2010 Silhouette Match Report

4/11/2010

Just got out to the range and picked up the paperwork on last weekends match   Thanks again to Don Merritt for running the SHOW, while I was in Alabama attending a shooting clinic, even though he did try to spoil all my good help with coffee and doughnuts in my absence.  Looks like I really missed out on spending the day with some fine folks and watching some great shooting.  Besides not meeting with old friends, I see I missed out on seeing some new folks shoot their first rounds with us.  Hope everyone of you liked what you saw and come on back.  Wished I had been there to see all 5 Keevens shoot a round and to watch Jay, Ron and Stephanie compete for that top spot . There was some great pistol shooting and Jerry, as always, did well with his open sights .

I heard Stephanie’s FOLLOW THROUGH was something to behold and she did not need to be reminded about it even once all day!!!!  This is going to be a lot of fun watching the competition in All Offhand this year.  Things really got off to a great start Sunday:

Stephanie Shockley 35

Ron Bain 34

Jay Hendrix 31

The Half and Half class is also looking to be a race to the wire all season, with some very close scores:

Wayne Schneider 29

Abby Keeven 27

Melissa Keeven 26

Gregg Wehmeier 25

Terry Flanagan 23

Just to show that these guys and gals can also get it done with a pistol :

Wayne Schneider 29

Stephanie Shockley 25

Terry Flanagan 22

Want to thank everyone for all their support and the help that was given to Don last week.  Looks like I will also miss our August match as the Owensville Gun Club M1 For Vets will be taking 4 of our Wounded Warriors to the National Matches held at Camp Perry that weekend and I am honored to be a part of that team.  Don will once again run the match for me.  This Sunday is our CMP Match and 2 more rifles will be presented to Wounded Warriors, so try to attend the presentation at 8:00 and then shoot some High Power with us.  There will be extra rifles to borrow for those who do not have one.

Look forward to our next match on May 23rd (off schedule due to Mother’s Day) and seeing you all again.

2010 CMP Match Results

4/18/2010

Hello to all OGC members and friends.  This last Sunday was  a great day.  We had a double rifle presentation with a special guest in the form Of Senator Frank Barnitz.  Frank was kind enough to draw the winner of the Spring Raffle for a M1 Garand.  The winner was Raul Moreno from St Louis. Raul bought the winning ticket from Les Viehman at the Machinists Hall gun show.  Attached is a picture of the next raffle item, a 6 rifle gun cabinet made of 100 year old barn wood.  Raffle starts 1 May.  If you want tickets to sell let me know.

The Sunday match was held under almost perfect shooting conditions.  I guess that is why we had 49 position filled for the day.  Good shooting went along with the weather as we gave out 4 gold, 5 silver and 9 bronze pins for the day.

In the three gun shoot it was 1st: Schneider, 2nd: Emken and 3rd: Haid.. Congratulation to them for shooting in all three categories, M1, Vintage and Carbine.

In the overall match categories the high scores were as follows:

                                              1st                                    2nd                                   3rd

M1 Garand                        Cramer                            Emken                          Miller, Jason

Carbine                             Cramer                          Schneider                         Emken

Vintage                              Schneider                          Haid                              Emken

Going through the score sheets before I sent them to CMP I noticed that the number of Vintage rifle shooters was smaller than it has been and that overall the scores of our regular shooters are showing improvement.  I also noted that the score sheets are not being filled out completely. I need every ones help in seeing that this is done correctly

Our next shoot is 16 May. Hope to see all of you there.
